According to Expedia.com, there are no non-stops. At best you would have to make a connection in Miami or Dallas.
2 :
Yes, both LAN and Delta have non-stop, and I'm sure other airlines do too.
3 :
TACA (http://www.taca.com) has nonstop service from LAX to SJO, running Tue-Fri only. There's also a daily flight that goes through San Salvador (very short layover). The return nonstop (SJO-LAX) operates Mon-Thur only. So a Fri-Wed trip could mean nonstop both ways.
4 :
Lacsa (Costa Rica Airline) which is run by Taca (go to their website as the one mentioned) has several flights schedule daily to LAX to San Jose, and vise-versa..
5 :
I've seen them, from LAX to San Jose.....very expensive..... Lineas Aereas Costarricenses (LACSA), which operates a daily non-stop flight from San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO) to Los Angeles (LAX) regularly scheduled to depart at 6:15pm and arrive at 10:35pm. Usually an Airbus A319 is flown for this route. The average travel time from San Jose, Costa Rica to Los Angeles, CA is 6 hours and 20 minutes. If you don't book nonstop, be sure to go thru Houston....it's the best record Hub of all...enjoy :)

Thats a long flight. Try using orbitz or priceline because there is a good chance you are going to need multiple airlines or at least 1 stop.
2 :
Try some Asia-based airlines like Korea Air or Air Singapore because they're likely to stop in a big city in Asia. You could also try getting a flight to Dublin, where I believe you can get a flight on Iceland Air to Rekjavick.
3 :
You can fly LAX-MSP-KEF for 1180.50. I just picked a day of Dec 10-17 You will have to make one stop and the hubs for Iceland are MSP/BOS/BWI/JFK you can direct flights from those cities. If you want some more info let me know
4 :
Iceland has limited options, and Icelandair dominates the offerings. I'd tryo to balance the best Icelandair deal to whichever eastern city you can get ot the cheapest.
5 :
Icelandair only serve 6 airports in North America--Orlando (Sanford), JFK (New York), MSP, Halifax, Boston, and BWI; they'll start service to Toronto next spring. They used to serve San Francisco, but discontinued after last summer. There aren't any other airlines serving Iceland from North America--Icelandair is your only option, unless you want to connect somewhere in Europe, and that would not be cheaper, and would add a lot of time and hassle to your trip. Your best bet is to sign up for Icelandair's "Lucky Fares" email sales alerts. Then work out the cheapest add-on flight from LAX to BWI, JFK, MSP, or BOS (SFB and YHZ probably not best connecting from LAX). JetBlue is likely a good option for the intra-US flight. The cheapest published fare currently on LAX-KEF in December is $758, connecting via BWI. If Icelandair has a good sale, say $400, and you add JetBlue to get to an Icelandair-served city for, say, $200, then you'd come out ahead.
6 :
Try cheapoair.com -- really good website. I usually book my air tickets here and my experience with them has been good so far. So, you can go for it. Happy Journey !!! Pal
