at 6:30 you have to get there 2 hours earier. you have to go through so much stuff.

Depends on the airline. I'd say 7 am is fine for Jet Blue and most others. It also depends on the day, most days 1.5 hours early is fine.

You have to be at the airport 2 hours before the flight because you have to check in, then go thru inspection which takes a long time.

The airlines say 2 hours, but if you call the airport, you'll get a better answer. Both major NY airports are extremely busy in the am...but if you have an e-ticket, you may be able to show up a bit later. The TSA requirement, the very latest you can show up, is half an hour before a flight...but that may have changed. Those rules are constantly changing...Best to check with the airport directly, via email or call.

i have the same flight as you except from newyork to john wayne. and were getting there at least 2 hours early :)
