Los Angeles - to Heathrow - to Glasgow? Need to check in with immigrations?
If one is traveling from LAX (Los Angeles) The flight then connects at LHR (London Heathrow) to connect to its final destination of Glasgow. Do you check in with immigrations at Heathrow or Glasgow? Also if thats the case checking in at heathrow, and we got one of those package deals and the time between connecting flights is about 1 hr 30 minutes, is that going to give enough time so we dont miss our flight?

You always go through customs at your first point of entry, so in this case London. They are pretty organzied there though, you should have no problems! I don't know if LHR to Glasgow is considered foreign or domestic, but you will definitely show your passport at LHR.
2 :
Glasgow..especially if you are only on layover at Heathrow.
3 :
You will go through customs and immigration at Heathrow - your first port of entry. This is always the same when I used to travel from Manchester (MAN) to Chicago O'Hare (ORD) and then to Denver (DIA). I always went through Customs and immigration at O'Hare and never at Denver - it is always done at your first port of entry into a country. London Heathrow and Glasgow are part of the United Kingdom - the same country. This is because when you catch your connecting flight (LHR to Glasgow) - it is a domestic flight and so you will not fly into the international terminal at Glasgow - so you will not go through any security when you land.
4 :
Make sure your bags are through checked straight to Glasgow from LAX as if you have to pick them up in LHR and recheck in you will be in real difficulties making your onward connex. Then assuming this is the case........when you arrive in Heathrow you just have to go straight to the Flight Connections Centre. In all probability you will be arriving to terminal 3 (unless British Airways which is terminal4) and you will nedd to go to Terminal 1 DOMESTIC departures . The F.C.C .is well signposted and incorporates a customs facility(make sure you have paperwork/landing cards filled in beforehand). Heathrow can be very busy and because they are doing so much refurbishment transfer times can be slow so keep a sense of urgency though you should be fine with a 90 min xfer. In Glasgow you will arrive in domestic arrivals and there will be normal security but no customs checks........do be aware however as your bags have interlined from an international destination they can appear on a different belt from the domestic bags. ( check with a customer services rep at Glasgow

How is the flight between New York (JFK) and Los Angeles (LAX)? Anyone have experiences
How is the flight between New York (JFK) and Los Angeles (LAX)? Anyone have experiences?
I'm flying to New York in February and I was wondering how long the flight is? Any suggestions on how to ease my mind during the trip? I'm flying on JetBlue so I know that the Direct Tv will help. I've flown many times before, but usually not longer than 3-4 hours. I'm just a bit tense... It's a non stop flight.

If you've flown, you've flown. I always bring a book to read for cross-country flights and a few snacks in transparent bags which they allow on the flight. Jet Blue will get you there. Is it a non-stop or layover. On a layover, get something to eat and clean up as best you can which makes you more refreshed for a long day in a cocoon. Jet Blue? Just make sure your seat isn't on the wingtip! Just kidding. I've flown J.B. from LAX to LaGuardia more times than I can count. I've also flown from NY to Rio which is 13 hours by way of Sao Paulo! Layovers can take it to 24 hours without seeing the light of day. Now that is a flight!
2 :
It's not much different than any other long-distance flight in the USA. You really have to work to get anything longer than, what, say 6 hours in the USA? The difference between 3 hours and 5 isn't that noticeable once you are in the air and settled in. I read on flights. I don't travel that much anymore, but when I did it regularly for work and play, I got a LOT of reading done. If I am tired, I can easily sleep on any flight also, so that works as a backup plan for me. Some of my friends cannot sleep on airplanes though, so that means more reading. In a nutshell, coast to coast flights are not that different than city hops...just more time in the air. *shrug*
3 :
It is more than 6 hours, less than 7.
4 :
I think that should be a little under 6 hours..but Jet Blue will make the trip amazing with their leather seats which are so comfortable. i love Jet Blue for the TV and satellite radio too...Jet Blue also gives food out more than other airlines.

What happens if my flight is cancelled
What happens if my flight is cancelled?
Ok, here we go... on January 17th, I have a flight from New York City to Los Angeles, and then on to Melbourne (all on the one ticket). What happens if my flight in New York is delayed or cancelled in New York City, and does not make the connecting flight in Los Angeles? Is Qantas liable to get me back to Melbourne when I finally get to Los Angeles? Remember, it was all bought on the one ticket. Thanks!

Not so if you are on a low cost airline, and it is more difficult to get this to happen now that tickets are usually electronic, and definitely not if a force majeure caused the cancellation.
2 :
Qantas will re-book you on to another flight. But note that if all the flights are full, you might have a long wait in LA.

try: sidestep.com or kayak.com they've really helped me a whole lot!
2 :
$259.60 roundtrip, all taxes fees incl, departing 20th and back 27th. This on Frontier Airlines using Midway and LAX. I checked nearby airports, all the other airlines, and all the other sources that get suggested for you to check, but this is the cheapest using your date range. Requires 7 days advance purchase. http://www.frontierairlines.com
3 :
Try Southwest.com. I don't think they offer deals to travel search websites, so you have to go directly to them. They fly out of midway not O'hare.
4 :
I have a little travel blog that will help you find the cheapest airfare! Use the Kayak search bar on the right side to find the cheapest airfare! The blog is about travel to and around Europe, but you can use the Kayak bar to find really cheap flights anywhere in the world! http://besttravelsearch.blogspot.com

3 :
I always start at Kayak (www.kayak.com). I take a look at what airlines fly that route and how much they're charging. Then I usually go to their websites to verify the prices. I also check discount airlines that fly that route. Just picking arbitrary dates (12/11 to 12/18), here's what I've found... American Airlines, direct, $352 Continental Airlines, one layover, $380 Delta Airlines, one layover, $408 United Airlines, one layover, $407 US Airways, one layover, $450 Alaska Airlines, direct, $415 Discount Airlines (all fly into Ft. Lauderdale instead of Miami): Southwest Airlines, one layover, $332 AirTran, one layover, $408 JetBlue, one layover, $479 Frontier Airlines, one layover, $606 Virgin America, direct and layover, $594 It looks like American Airlines is by far your best deal. They fly direct for a real competitive price. I'd book sometime within the next few weeks, keeping an eye out for a price drop. Kayak is probably a most useful tool for looking at a bunch of airlines, as it shows you all of the airlines except the discount airlines. But I'd keep a real close eye on that AA fare. Good luck.
4 :
I hear that you should try to book the flight on a Tuesday or Wednesday or Saturday because its a little cheaper.

how much is an average flight from the UK to Los Angeles likley to cost?
from any UK airport with a reputable company e.g thompsons...

Easy way to find out is to got to http://www.expedia.com Just insert the relevant departure and arrival points and appropriate dates and you get actual data. You can book on line if you wish. Right now http://www.travelbag.co.uk have London to Los Angeles from £438 return. Or http://www.flightcentre.co.uk are offering the same route from £439 Ian
2 :
It depends on the airline, UK airport your are departing, UK airport you are returning to, when you buy your tickets, who you buy the ticket from, when you are departing / returning, length of stay, and the days you are traveling to name a few factors. If you watch the ads you can find LA for about £349 - £399 round trip but you are more likely to find it costing in the £500 - £700 range.

Consider LAX-Seattle, then bus. That'd be a LOT faster, and likely the cheapest option. Virgin America and Alaska Airlines have LAX-SEA currenlty for $183 r/t total with nonstop flights. I checked everywhere for you, including ITA, Cfares, Sidestep, Orbitz, airlines direct, BookingBuddy, etc. etc.

Are there non-stop flights from Los Angeles to Costa Rica -- either San Jose or Liberia airports?
If so, what days? What airlines? Thanks!

According to Expedia.com, there are no non-stops. At best you would have to make a connection in Miami or Dallas.
2 :
Yes, both LAN and Delta have non-stop, and I'm sure other airlines do too.
3 :
TACA (http://www.taca.com) has nonstop service from LAX to SJO, running Tue-Fri only. There's also a daily flight that goes through San Salvador (very short layover). The return nonstop (SJO-LAX) operates Mon-Thur only. So a Fri-Wed trip could mean nonstop both ways.
4 :
Lacsa (Costa Rica Airline) which is run by Taca (go to their website as the one mentioned) has several flights schedule daily to LAX to San Jose, and vise-versa..
5 :
I've seen them, from LAX to San Jose.....very expensive..... Lineas Aereas Costarricenses (LACSA), which operates a daily non-stop flight from San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO) to Los Angeles (LAX) regularly scheduled to depart at 6:15pm and arrive at 10:35pm. Usually an Airbus A319 is flown for this route. The average travel time from San Jose, Costa Rica to Los Angeles, CA is 6 hours and 20 minutes. If you don't book nonstop, be sure to go thru Houston....it's the best record Hub of all...enjoy :)

I need a cheap flight from LAX (los angeles) to Iceland this December.?

Thats a long flight. Try using orbitz or priceline because there is a good chance you are going to need multiple airlines or at least 1 stop.
2 :
Try some Asia-based airlines like Korea Air or Air Singapore because they're likely to stop in a big city in Asia. You could also try getting a flight to Dublin, where I believe you can get a flight on Iceland Air to Rekjavick.
3 :
You can fly LAX-MSP-KEF for 1180.50. I just picked a day of Dec 10-17 You will have to make one stop and the hubs for Iceland are MSP/BOS/BWI/JFK you can direct flights from those cities. If you want some more info let me know
4 :
Iceland has limited options, and Icelandair dominates the offerings. I'd tryo to balance the best Icelandair deal to whichever eastern city you can get ot the cheapest.
5 :
Icelandair only serve 6 airports in North America--Orlando (Sanford), JFK (New York), MSP, Halifax, Boston, and BWI; they'll start service to Toronto next spring. They used to serve San Francisco, but discontinued after last summer. There aren't any other airlines serving Iceland from North America--Icelandair is your only option, unless you want to connect somewhere in Europe, and that would not be cheaper, and would add a lot of time and hassle to your trip. Your best bet is to sign up for Icelandair's "Lucky Fares" email sales alerts. Then work out the cheapest add-on flight from LAX to BWI, JFK, MSP, or BOS (SFB and YHZ probably not best connecting from LAX). JetBlue is likely a good option for the intra-US flight. The cheapest published fare currently on LAX-KEF in December is $758, connecting via BWI. If Icelandair has a good sale, say $400, and you add JetBlue to get to an Icelandair-served city for, say, $200, then you'd come out ahead.
6 :
Try cheapoair.com -- really good website. I usually book my air tickets here and my experience with them has been good so far. So, you can go for it. Happy Journey !!! Pal

If Icelandair has a good sale, say $400, and you add JetBlue to get to an Icelandair-served city for, say, $200, then you'd come out ahead.

If you are going in May, then, surely, you have your tickets, right? check them! If you haven't bought your tickets, yet, then start looking at them online, and figure it out...it depends on many things, including what layovers you choose. You're sure to find that you can't do the trip without at least one, possibly two layovers. I'm not sure how it is when you're flying from LA.
2 :
Maybe... 10-11 hours. I'm from Madrid, and it took me 8 and a half hours to go to NY, so I think 10-11 hours is the right time.
3 :

It depends what airline you go with. I know because I was a ramp agent at Boise Airport. But if you go with United you will either go to Denver first or San Fransisco and get on another plane but if you go with Delta then the connection will be in Salt Lake City, UT but an average of 4 to 5 hours

You don't need a passport to fly within the US if you're a citizen, but you will need some sort of photo ID (like a driver's license) to check in.

What is the best price for a flight from Orlando to Los Angeles on June 11 and returning on June 20
What is the best price for a flight from Orlando to Los Angeles on June 11 and returning on June 20?
Any city nearby Alachua Florida may be considered if the price is right.

Try http://www.expedia.com Good Luck
2 :
Always check orbitz.com first. This will give you an idea of the price. Then go to the individual airlines site, you have more flexibility when choosing your flights and times. Stay away from the consolidator websites such as Priceline, Hotwire, Cheaptickets etc. They buy the bottom tier, most restricted fares and then add their own restrictions. Airlines can not touch them for any reason as far as making changes and they are completely non-refundable or changable for any reason no matter what. I work for an airline and too many times people don't understand what they are getting into. You want to stick with flying in and out of Orlando at best. You will have more options for non-stop flights. As of today at 1:00pm Delta is offering non-stop service from Orlando to LAX for $384. That should still be operated by our low cost version airline called Song. Every seat is coach and has Direct TV as well as pay-per-view movies and games. If you have kids, they will truely enjoy the flight as well. If its mainline Delta, you will also have the comfort of going non-stop and avoiding getting held up flying to Atlanta or any other hub from any other airline. With it being summer, try to avoid any connections if you can. On Delta.com I got the same fare and chose both non-stop flights. Orbitz offers non-stop MCO-LAX but returning Via Atlanta. Being in Orlando (MCO) you want to leave on an early morning flight to avoid any delay's with the afternoon weather. The return is a red-eye leaving LAX at 10:45pm. This is all the same research you can do for yourself. The longer you wait the more the price will go up. You need to book soon because the flight is already filling up from MCO and the lower fares are going fast. Stay away from departing on Friday and Saturdays, that will raise the price considerably, but this is peak summer travel season especially in Orlando. Save time and check in online. If you check bags, remember every airport is now a one hour cut off on checking in and 50lb is the limit per bag and only 2 bags are allowed at check-in. Orlando will be a mad house this time of year so allow more than ample time to get through security.

With roughly 8.600 miles to fly, I am not sure if this is even possible to go non-stop. A private jet will get you there and back on your schedule if you want to pay upwards of $280k. If you're not willing to pay that kind of money, I would recommend one of the commercial carriers with a fuel stop. Good luck!
2 :
There are no direct flights from LAX to Mumbai (the distance is far too great). Your best options are flying British Airways with a stop in London (20 hours) or Air India with a stop in Frankfurt (20 hours).
3 :
Air India flies out of LAX but to get to Mubai, there is a stopover. Flight AI 136 leaves LAX at 19:10.
4 :
First of all, the distance is too great for a non-stop. Secondly, it is not a popular enough destination for a direct out of Los Angeles.
5 :
Air India currently flies 4 weekly, 1-stop service from Los Angeles to Mumbai. AI136 operates Tue, Thur, Fri, Sun lv LA 710pm *stop in Frankfurt ar 250pm lv 415pm* ar Mumbai 345am 2days later aircraft 747-400 total time - 20hrs 25mins AI137 operates Tue, Thur, Fri, Sun lv Mumbai 710am *stop in Frankfurt ar 1225pm lv 2pm* ar LA 435pm same day aircraft 747-400 total time - 21hrs 55mins flight schedule is for September/October Exact flying time depends on operating day condition Due to lack of aircraft, Air India is unable to launch nonstop India-USA flight. However, once it start to receive ultra long-haul 777-200LR next year, it'll start non-stop flight to New York first. As more 777-200LR arrives (total 8), it'll fly nonstop to West Coast USA (either SF or LA).

Even though you're flying between the US and the UK, because you are flying Air New Zealand, the laws of New Zealand dictate the policy of the airline. Because New Zealand's legal drinking age is 18, you would be able to drink onboard your flight.
2 :
Air New Zealand NZ0002 you will be able to drink as it is a New Zealand carrier, the country of the airline dictate the age you can drink.
3 :
Hi there, As you are flying on Air New Zealand, once airborne, the laws of New Zealand apply. This means that you will be able to drink alcohol on the LA — LDN leg of your journey. However, the crew does reserve the right to deny you alcoholic beverages (their decisions are equal to law once you are airborne) Hope this helps, JPJ
